Want to dance in the opening dance?
The unique ambiance of De Duif on the Prinsengracht. Filled with ball guests in their best prom attire. A 22-piece orchestra. Chopin’s Polonaise as you walk up. Followed by Waltz No. 2 by Shostakovich. You and your dance partner perform the opening dance together with the rest of the dance group and the audience enjoys it. A magical moment. What do we offer you?

What do we expect from you?
- You are under the age of 30.
- You preferably have some experience in Viennese Waltz (no prerequisite).
- You preferably have a dance partner (can be of the same sex).
- You have the right clothing, so white tie or long evening dress. For those who want to rent a white tie: participants of the opening dance will receive a 10 euro discount at RokkostuumHurenAmsterdam.nl stating Opening Dance Amsterdamsch Galabal.
- You are available for three training sessions in Amsterdam on the Sunday afternoons of 20 October, 27 October and 10 November 2024.
- You will be available from 3:30 p.m. on the day of the ball (November 16, 2024).
What does it cost?
Participation in the opening dance costs 50 euros per person. For this, you will receive a complete package: three professional dance lessons, access to the ball, a meal at 6 p.m. on the day of the ball, two consumption vouchers and a photo of you and your dance partner taken by our ball photographer.
Are you unable to participate in the opening dance for financial reasons? Please contact organizer Marco van der Noordaa. Maybe we can work out a solution. Do you know someone who can provide financial support for the ball? Then please point him/her to our Support us page.
How can I apply?
Do you want to participate in the opening dance and do you meet the above conditions? Then apply as soon as possible, but no later than September 15 via this form. After your application, we will keep you posted.
