The inspiration for the Amsterdamsch Galabal comes from Vienna. Hundreds of balls are held there every year, and Marco van der Noordaa, the founder of the Erfgoed ten dans Foundation, has attended many of them. One of these bals is the Elmayer Kränzchen at the Hofburg. This ball has been organized for over 100 years by the famous Tanzschule Elmayer.

The Elmayer Kränzchen has by far the most debutants of any ball in Vienna—and probably worldwide. It’s hard to imagine, but the opening dance is performed by no fewer than 350 couples. They are all students from the dance school who completed the course this past year. It’s an impressive spectacle.
The Elmayer Kränzchen always takes place on the last day of Carnival. The ball therefore ends at midnight and starts a little earlier than the other balls. The next edition will take place on Tuesday, February 9, 2027.
Marco van der Noordaa will be attending the next edition of the ball and invites you to join him. Please note: Tickets for this ball are only available for purchase at the dance school in Vienna and cannot be purchased online. Thanks to his good connections with the dance school, Marco van der Noordaa is able to reserve a limited number of tickets for guests from the Netherlands. Would you like to experience the next edition of this ball for yourself? If so, please fill out the form below by November 15, 2026, at the latest.
